10:30AM-12:00PM Keynote 2 – Alexandra Candelas, View Bio

Alexandra Candelas is a passionate problem solver who helps organizations craft experiences that make a meaningful impact. Her accomplishments span 30 years of dedication in the field of software development and range across many verticals including legacy industries such as Financial Services and Travel IT.

She is known for traversing the complex landscape of theory and practice inspiring cross-disciplinary teams to think of the impossible, yet build what’s possible. Her explorations include consulting for Apple and subsequently starting the first desktop publishing department; consulting for the now historic Eastman Kodak on the world’s first suite of digital products including camera, scanner, printer and CDs; creating some of the first websites under the guidance of Tim Berners-Lee at MIT’s W3C; and collaborating with industry leaders to formalize the practice of what is now known as User Experience or Product Design.

She has spent the last 10 years as the Head of User Experience for Amadeus a global Travel IT company as a strategic champion of UX. She is a voracious inventor named on numerouspatents, trade secrets and publications. And, currently spends evenings as an Adjunct teaching UX Design, Usability and HCI at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and in the graduate department at Northeastern University. She specializes in teaching students the balance between theory and practice and how to be a valuable contributor in the field of UX or Product Design.
